The 1940s gave way to bebop with its dedication to elevating the form to level of ‘serious’ music with more complex harmonies and virtuosic players like Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk and Dizzy Gillespie. But I have no real opinion on their talent. I think Billie recorded her best stuff in the late 1930s and very early 1940s. One of the great things about Easy Sheet Music is that every song is arranged for easy piano. Indeed the band that McGregor worked with the longest, his own Brotherhood of Breath, Graham Lock wrote in Chasing the Vibration (1994), "really shook the foundations, with their gleeful and exuberant approach to swing."

Best-known as a piano music, ragtime (which is totally written-out) was also performed by orchestras. The Students have the option to choose any band instrument they like ranging from flute to trumpet to drums to saxophone. I love it especially with a marvelous band like Dream Theatre - LightningBlade If people actually tried to listen deeply to jazz and understand the artist and composers feelings they wouldn't hate. I agree with your list, except for nu-metal. These records became wildly popular in Jamaica.
